This film costarred Patricia Neal and Raymond Massey. It was based on the hugely successful novel by Ayn Rand but the movie flopped. Gary and Patricia, 25 years his junior, began a four year affair while filming this one. Ironically, it was Gary's wife Rocky who convinced him to make the film. Gary and Rocky separated in the early 50s but by the mid 50s were reconciled.
Patricia, Rocky, and Maria put their differences aside in the late 70s and were able to become friends. To this day Pat says Gary was the love of her life.
