So a friend of mine, who is a big Stanwyck fan, pointed this out to me(someone supposingly said it on the BS forum):
“Missy and Gary Were rumored to have had an affair, (in the early fifties, when she had gotten divorced from taylor) doing their last film together - though I have no idea if its true. Anthony Quinn claims to have seen Gary putting his hands up Missy’s skirt while kissing her, aparently. he writes about it in his autobiography.”
And I was wondering if it were true. We all know that he had a lot of affairs but he wasn't the only one who had them back then. It's not like I approve it but we have to face the facts of the era it was. Maybe I'm the only one but I refuse to believe this. I always thought of and read that Coop was very professional and I don't think he'd go putting his hand underneath a friend's skirt. Especially after her divorce!¨That makes him sound like some sex-maniac. I mean he was afraid to kiss his co-star in Nevada because he thought it improper to kiss someone who he didn't know well. Why would he go doing this to a friend who has just divorced and so in public?? I hope someone knows the truth behind this, I'd like to know it. Either it isn't true or he was crazy at the time. Everything I read about him points to me that this is wrong.

This is the first I've heard about an affair between the two of them. She is one of my favorite actresses and I think she and Gary mad a great movie pair but just going by my gut, I don't think they had an affair. I know they were very good friends but personally I don't think it went beyond that. Barbara and Rocky were friends and she seems like she was a decent person and I'd be surprised if Barbara would mess around with the husband of a friend.

I don't know much about her and this was big news to me but I don't think he would do such a thing as put his hand under her skirt while filming even if there was an affair or not. Apparently Anthony Quinn saw it and apparently he says it in his book and I also read that it is in the American Hero by Jeffrey Meyers. But I don't think it is something he would do. I think he was far more proffesional and just a great, decent guy to do something like that.
