After years of hard work I have finally completed my doctorate degree!! I finished Summa Cum Laude from Walden University with a PhD in Human Services (social research and statistics).
Now that I have free time I am working on a new version of this site. It will have a much more professional look and it will be easier to navigate and find things. I also won't be dependent on other file sharing sites like Photobucket and Youtube as I can upload pics and videos directly to the site. I will still also put my videos on Youtube but I have a handful of videos I've made that for song copyright issues were not accepted by Youtube and now I'll be able to share them.
I'm in the process now of going through all of my Gary stuff and deleting duplicate pictures and doing some Photoshop work on any pics that need it. When the site goes live (in about a month, I hope) the content will look better and be easier to find with an improved search function.
I am going to leave this site up and link it to the new site to be used as a message board and I'll continue to post stories and movie musings here. I've got a lot of those backed up that I need to finish and now I have the time. I'm not going to post much here as I've got a lot to do to get the new site ready but y'all can continue to post pics and other Gary things here until the new site goes live.
It should be even easier for y'all to submit pics, etc... through the new site as you can email them to a dedicated address just for site submissions.
Thanks to everybody who has made this site a success over the six years since its inception. I hope with the new site we'll have an even better, brighter future as Gary fans!
Thanks, Angie

Congratulations, Angie. That doctorate degree is something you can be very proud of. I can't wait to see what you have planned for us as a new site - I'm certainly looking forward to it. I've always loved website design for private stuff and I finally got my very own login to do some Typo 3 CMS work on a company site.

Thanks! I'm using a Vistaprint site and they have a lot of templates to choose from and then you can do your own customization too. I've been wanting to upgrade for a while but didn't have the time. I think it will be a much better site and this one will still be up too with a few sections for chatting and other things.

I wanted to give y'all another new site update. I was using a Vistaprint site builder but it did not have enough storage space and I couldn't really tell that until I got deeper into setting it up. So I've switched to Wix site builder and it's much better. I have plenty of storage space and bandwith and the templates are more customizable.
I'm really happy with how it's coming together but it's a big job. The Audio page is set up so all the radio shows and things like that are up on one page and in chronological order. I've got all the movie stills and movie ads uploaded but I'm still going through and labeling them (with the labels you will be able to search in different ways based on what's in the label). I'm still cleaning up the pics from individual decades, Gary with family, and Gary and celebrities (that folder alone has 600+ pics!!!). While doing that I've been able to put dates to a lot more pics and I'm really excited about that.
I think the new site is going to be great and much more user friendly. I'm trying to get it done as quickly as possible but it might not be until the end of August. I hope everybody is having a great summer and can't wait to show off the new site in early Fall!

I'm still working on the new site and so far it looks great! I think it will be much easier to find and view everything and I'm really excited for it to go live. I hope it will be finished sometime in September. It's taking a long time b/c I have so much stuff - ha! I'm really putting a lot of work into it cleaning up the pictures, dating pics, and getting rid of duplicates. Just those things alone have taken a long time. I can see light at the end of the tunnel though.

Amazing--congrats, Dr. Angie!
Also, it seems I've returned to this page, after a long hiatus (I also was busy getting a Ph.D.!), as now I can be in the loop regarding the new site!
I hope to enjoy this place more often--I can't think of many better stress-relievers than watching classic films and "studying" the presence of Gary Cooper.
Again, congratulations and best wishes!

Congrats to you as well Dr. girlfriday! I am loving have free time again and most of it has gone into working on the new site. This site will still be up and will primarily be a message board as a place to chat. I've got so much stuff to go through though that it is talking a lot longer than I had planned. Hopefully by the end of this month the new site will be live.

Oh, enjoy the free time--it'll be gobbled up before you know it! I look forward to the new site, indeed!
I just finished rewatching The Virginian. Major sighing going on here--they don't make 'em like they used to!

I wanted to give y'all another new site update. I'm making progress and it is mostly finished. I can say for sure the new site will be live some time in October. Here's a preview of what it will look like. This is part of the page for 1930s movie stills. Then let's say you click on the Seven Days Leave gallery, this is what it would look like when the gallery opens. You can't see them but on the full screen there are arrows to the left and right for you to then go through the gallery and see all the pics. Angie P.S. I got my diploma this week - now it seems real .

Nice diploma, Angie, smart girl I barely managed to get my advanced technical college entrance qualification and now I am stuck in public administration, adult education center Looking forward to the new site and new features. BTW, I'm curious...are all those categories you put in the upper navigation part of a new message board or is there a separate message board for us to see?

Justme, whatever your level of education or job, just do it the best you can and that's something to be proud of indeed. Do you work with the federal Adult Education Literacy program? I ask because in my job with the Texas state government I do data analysis/program performance reporting for state and fed officials on the AEL program.
About your site question, this site will be still be here and will be linked to the new site as a message board and place to chat about Gary stuff. Most, if not all content, will be posted at the new site. I will have a dedicated email address for people to send me pics, articles, etc... to post to the new site.
Angie

Oh, I am proud of what I have achieved in my career so far. No, I don't work for the AEL, just the kind of adult education center you find in every city. My job is the administration of integration courses, refugee projects and content management..a bit of everything. I work with the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees on a daily basis.

My current project is quite interesting but there is quite a bit of work involved, too much actually...it is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Association of Adult Education Centers. It is a pain in the you know where LOL...anyway, you get to learn quite a bit...so I guess we have quite a bit to talk about work wise, Angie, LOL..I do the work and you make sure it is ok..interesting.

That does sound interesting. My main function is program performance reporting so I'm definitely more of a behind the scenes person. We're very busy in my department too because of the new Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act legislation that comes with a whole new performance reporting system that all states must have in place by next summer. Texas is always ahead of the game though and we'll be ready in time for the new reporting requirements but it will take a lot of work.
