Imagine my surprise when I found out that The Fountainhead is playing in my area tonight! It got me thinking that it may be neat/useful to accumulate information regarding upcoming screenings of Coop's movies so that fans who happen to live in that area can enjoy them on the big screen (not to mention potentially connect with other fans)! I'm going to start by sharing the (currently paltry) listings of Gary Cooper film screenings in my area. So, feel free to add information to the thread, if you feel comfortable doing so, regarding any film-viewings in your respective locations. -------- Upcoming Gary Cooper Film Screenings New York CityMonday, March 14, 2011The Fountainhead@ B.A.M. Hi, All There are a couple of upcoming NYC-based opportunities to see Gary on the big screen!First up is the showing of Wings during the William Wellman festival at Film Forum. In particular, a few special events are planned during the festival’s opening weekend. On Friday, February 10th, at 7 p.m., Wings will be introduced by William Wellman, Jr., son of the director; a Question & Answer session will follow the screening. Also, Mr. Wellman will sign copies of his book The Man and His Wings at the concession stand, also following the film and the discussion. On Saturday, February 11th, also at 7 p.m., Wings will be introduced by Academy Award-winning sound designer Ben Burtt (known for his work on Star Wars, E.T., and Raider s of the Lost Ark). A Question & Answer session will follow. Interestingly, the newly-improved sound effects heard in the Wings restoration were created by Burtt. The full schedule of Wings viewings, ticket information, and so-forth, can be found here: www.filmforum.org/movies/more/wingsAlso at Film Forum, on Sunday and Monday, February 19 and 20 respectively, Beau Geste (with Gary, of course) is playing in a two-for-one film showcase with The Call of The Wild (starring Clark Gable and Loretta Young). Beau Geste plays Sunday at 1 p.m., 4:50 p.m., and 8:35 p.m.. It plays Monday at 1 p.m. and 4:50 p.m. The whole calendar of events is downloadable here: www.filmforum.org/pdf/ff2_cal94_FINAL.pdf
