I wasn't exactly sure where to post this, but I figured the General Coop Chat forum was appropriate. And it's certainly "neat stuff"!
After saving up for a frivolous "splurge" on an item, I bought an original, certified, autographed photo of Cooper! I used eBay and was surprised to learn that I won! Anyhow, it arrived in the mail today and I couldn't help but to scan and share it.
The mark that looks like a "tear" near the top of the photograph isn't an actual tear (the photograph is actually in extremely good shape). The tear must have been in the negative or the original print. It's an 8x10 image, on heavy stock photo paper (a rather matte-finish), and Gary's autograph has the slightest little smudge (I like to think HE smudged it a bit!) around the "ng" in "Greetings!" There's a bit of yellowing due to age, but it certainly adds to the charm. All in all, I'm in love with this possession and have no buyer's remorse whatsoever (not that I thought I would!)
So, I'm curious--are there any other fans out there who count a Cooper autograph among their beloved possessions? Where do you keep yours? I've hung mine up in a temporary frame (will want to get this properly matted) to keep it safe for now. It's keeping company with a little "collection" of autographed photos I have in my apartment.
Also (and this is an edit to my original post), can anyone guess the date of the photograph? I know I've seen the image before, but I cannot recall the specific date. The original seller said it was "from the 1930s or 1940s," but from the looks of Gary, I'm guessing early 1930s?
Thanks!
