My friend Theresa and I met seven years ago after we started talking on the Turner Classic Movies message board about Gary. We realized we only lived 40 minutes apart and we've been close as sisters ever since. She got married yesterday Oct 18 (to a great guy ) after dating four years. It was a big (260 guests) Catholic wedding so we've been very busy for a year with preparations and especially busy this week. It went off without a hitch and it was beautiful and everyone had a great time. I've been in several weddings over the years and she was by far the least stressed and most relaxed bride of the bunch. We both love all things vintage and the reception had a classic movie couples theme. Each table had a centerpiece with pics of movie couples. The bridal party (me included) were at the Sean Connery table and Gary was right behind us. She and her husband Joe had Greer Garson (her very fave) and Walter Pigeon at their table.
Here is their table. Her bouquet, made of vintage brooches, is in their vase.
The flowers in these vases were the same as what was in our bridesmaid bouquets.
Here's a pic of all the couples on the tables:
They also had a woman there who can make a cut out of your silhouette. That was a big hit and nearly everyone got theirs done. It took her about a minute on each one which is amazing. Here's mine; I love it so much I've already got it in a frame and it's on my desk.
If you've seen A Farewell to Arms, which I'm guessing most of you have, Helen Hayes gets hers done as well and it looked like this:
The bride wore her grandmother's wedding dress from the 1950s and a pearl necklace that her groom's grandmother wore on her wedding day. Here's a pic of the dress and the bride in it (I wish I was half as photogenic as she is ).
Here's a pic of us after the wedding. The white shrug wasn't part of my dress. It was sleeveless and I'm a little cold-natured so I put the shrug on for the reception.
