Hollywood icon Gary Cooper gets stamp of approval Sep 11, 2009 Cooper, who died in 1961 aged 60, entered the movies in the 1920s where he found work playing cowboys, the legacy of his upbringing on a ranch in Montana. "My father would have been very flattered by this honor, but he was always very self deprecating," Cooper's daughter Maria Cooper Janis said Thursday. It's funny that the Farewell to Arms coin has the swastika on it b/c that used to be a symbol of luck and fertility and prosperity which it says it's for good luck.
I love the letter too. He was a very eloquent writer.

GRAAH I just finally got to the post office, where they had a poster for Gary's stamp, so I looked for it, but they're all gone already! All they had was a bunch of random Frank Sinatra stuff. Bleh, at least that means Gary's popular.

He was indeed a good writer. Simple, clear, from the heart.

AAGH! I finally got the new stamps!! (And persuaded my mom and one of my friends to get some for themselves, because they are not permitted to touch mine. ) The guy at the post office was rather surprised and impressed that a teenage girl would want to buy Gary Cooper stamps. Ah, well, I'm just that awesome.

I'm in my 20s, and I thought I was the youngest Gary Cooper fan I know. You are awesome. The postal worker I asked for the stamps was all, "Who?". That genuinely disappointed me. LOL.

Hahaha. Thanks. The guy at the post office I was at was like 60. So yeah, he had heard of Gary. It's sad that hardly any younger people like classic movies anymore. I mean, I was raised on them so it's only natural that I like them. But most of my friends are of the "Titanic is the oldest movie I've ever seen" generation.

I'm sorry for the silly question, are they sold out already? Aaaaaargh... I was going to get a package from the States and I was expecting a miracle of that package having some Gary stamps on it...
